Detroit, Hamilton, Las Vegas and San Jose will play their first PWHL season with a city name across the chest and nothing else. No team names, no logos. When the league unveiled the four inaugural jerseys on Oct. 8, that left color to carry the whole identity, and each team used it to say something true about where it plays.

Detroit

The black home jersey with silver metallic accents comes straight from the city's automotive history and the industrial, resilient identity the league ties to Metro Detroiters. The silver reads like polished chrome. The white, silver and red stripes carry the 313 area code, and the red honors Hockeytown, where hockey has been part of the city for more than a century.

Forward Hilary Knight called the jersey "bold, tough, and built with purpose." She said representing the city comes with a standard she loves, and that the team gets to build an identity people can rally behind.

Ally Financial is the exclusive jersey patch partner. Detroit's first game is in Las Vegas on Dec. 6 (8 p.m. ET), so the white away jersey debuts first. The black home sweater arrives Dec. 12 against New York (12 p.m. ET) at Little Caesars Arena.

Hamilton

Gold, deep red, burnt orange and cream come from the city's steel industry. The gold home jersey with burnt orange and deep red accents evokes forging and rusted steel, and it echoes the uniforms of the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the former Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL and the Hamilton Tigers of the NHL. That is three teams in three leagues across different eras, and a fan who grew up with any of them will see something familiar.

Forward Kayla Vespa, a Hamilton native, said the city is "built on strength, grit, and pride." She said the jerseys honour the city's past while marking a new era for women's hockey there.

Hamilton opens at Montréal on Dec. 5 (7 p.m. ET) in the cream away jersey. The gold home jersey waits until the Home Opener at TD Coliseum on Dec. 13 against Ottawa (2 p.m. ET).

Las Vegas

The green home jersey is the desert valley. The gold was created specifically for this team, a color the league says evokes the sparkle of the desert sun, and in Las Vegas it is hard to see gold without reading some glitz into it. Navy stripes mark the desert at night. Across the front it says VEGAS, the name locals use for the place they call home.

Forward Hayley Scamurra said the jerseys capture the city's energy, "especially with the pop of gold," and that she can't wait to represent the Vegas community in them.

The home jersey debuts Dec. 6 against Detroit (8 p.m. ET) at T-Mobile Arena, the league's first all-expansion matchup of the new season.

San Jose

Mandarin orange with sky blue accents is the loudest palette of the four, and the league calls it bright, bold and imaginative. It has local roots: the orange groves of the region and the San Jose city flag. Bauer has never made mandarin orange a team's primary color before.

Forward Kristin O'Neill said the "bold colors represent the Bay Area vibe so well." She said she can't wait to take the ice in the home jersey for the first time and see fans in orange and blue.

San Jose opens at home Dec. 5 against Minnesota at SAP Center (7 p.m. ET).

What the schedule changes

Las Vegas and San Jose open at home in their primary colors. Detroit and Hamilton open on the road in their secondary ones, so the two teams with the deepest hockey and sports history will not wear their main jerseys at home until Dec. 12 and Dec. 13. The league release describes away jerseys only for Detroit (white) and Hamilton (cream).

How to get one

Dark home jerseys, including personalized options, go on sale in the week before Opening Weekend (Dec. 5-6). Player name and number t-shirts are available now through the PWHL shop, with Hamilton's sold through the Canadian site, and in venue at Little Caesars Arena, T-Mobile Arena and SAP Center. Each team's Insider Newsletter will announce the jersey release.

What comes next

The league says all four team identities, including names and logos, will be revealed before the season begins and will appear on on-ice uniforms in 2027-28. The Hockey News reports the reveal will come before training camps open Nov. 18, though the league has not given a date.

Last season's expansion teams offer a precedent. Seattle and Vancouver revealed their names and logos on Nov. 6, 2025, 15 days before the season opened on Nov. 21. The Canadian Press reported that the logos were left off those jerseys in part because the branding was not ready when the jerseys were ordered.

For one season, the only thing on the front of each jersey is the city. Fans who buy one in December will own the version of the team that existed before it had a logo.
