PWHL Las Vegas fans will have two of their defenders to follow when Canada chases gold at the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship. Erin Ambrose and Kendall Cooper have been named to the Canadian roster for the Nov. 6-16 tournament in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark.
Experience meets new faces
Hockey Canada’s 25-player roster includes three goaltenders, eight defenders and 14 forwards, selected by general manager Danièle Sauvageau and head coach Kori Cheverie with input from coaching and program staff.
Ambrose is among 13 players returning from Canada’s silver-medal team at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. She is also one of 12 players on the roster who helped Canada win its most recent Women’s Worlds gold medal in 2024.
Six players will make their Women’s Worlds debut: Kraemer, Leslie, Manness, McDonald, Tremblay and Wozniewicz. Alison Domenico will join the staff as an assistant coach, having previously won gold in that role at the 2022 Olympics and 2022 Women’s Worlds.
In their words
“Following a strong training camp in Quebec City, our coaching staff is excited to continue building toward the world championship with the athletes selected to represent Canada,”
Kori Cheverie, head coach
Canada has won 13 gold medals, 10 silver medals and one bronze in 24 Women’s Worlds appearances.
How to follow Canada
Canada will compete in Group B alongside host Denmark, Finland, Japan and Sweden. Group A features Austria, Czechia, Germany, Switzerland and the United States.
Before heading into the tournament, Canada will face the United States in pre-tournament games in Windsor, Ontario, on Oct. 28 and Plymouth, Michigan, on Oct. 30. Tickets are available for the Windsor game at the WFCU Centre.
