PWHL fans will get more games and a bigger playoff race in 2026-27, as the league’s fourth season expands to 12 teams and a record 180 regular-season games. The schedule runs from Saturday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, April 18, with new Eastern and Western Conferences and eight postseason spots at stake.

A new road to the Walter Cup

Each team will play 30 regular-season games, including 18 within its conference and 12 against the other conference. The league says every team will visit a primary or secondary home venue in all 12 markets at least once, giving fans the opportunity to see all teams.

  • Eastern Conference: Boston Fleet, PWHL Hamilton, Montréal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres.
  • Western Conference: PWHL Detroit, PWHL Las Vegas, Minnesota Frost, PWHL San Jose, Seattle Torrent and Vancouver Goldeneyes.

The top four teams in each conference will qualify for the Walter Cup playoffs, doubling the field from the league’s first three postseasons. Four best-of-three first-round series will lead into best-of-five conference finals and the best-of-five PWHL Walter Cup Finals presented by Scotiabank.

The first-place team in each conference will choose its opening-round opponent from the third- and fourth-place teams in its conference.

“The introduction of conferences and an expanded playoff format will deepen rivalries and fuel the competitiveness that makes PWHL action so exciting from the very first puck drop until the Walter Cup is raised.”

Jayna Hefford, PWHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations
