Toronto fans will have three seasons to watch first-round pick Kirsten Simms in a Sceptres jersey. The club has signed the Olympic gold medallist through 2028-29, adding a forward who scored 100 goals during her four seasons at Wisconsin.
What Simms brings
The 22-year-old from Plymouth, MI, finished her Badgers career with 238 points in 152 games and three National Championships. As a senior in 2025-26, she recorded 59 points, including 26 goals and 33 assists, in 31 games and earned All-WCHA Second Team recognition.
Simms previously earned consecutive First Team All-American and All-WCHA First Team honours as a sophomore and junior. Internationally, she won gold with the United States at the Olympic Winter Games in Milan, along with gold at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship and silver in 2024.
Building together in Toronto
“We’re really excited to have Kirsten commit to Toronto for the next three seasons,”
Gina Kingsbury, Sceptres General Manager
Kingsbury highlighted Simms’ offensive skill and creativity, along with the opportunity to build together over the three-year contract.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Toronto Sceptres. Toronto is the best hockey market in the world, and having the opportunity to play in front of such passionate fans is something really special,” said Simms.
Simms is one of 16 players under contract among the 29 invited to Sceptres training camp next month. She joins defenders Renata Fast and Kali Flanagan and goaltender Raygan Kirk as the four Sceptres signed through 2028-29.
