New York fans will have hometown standout Casey O’Brien back for two more years after the Sirens re-signed the PWHL’s rookie scoring leader through the 2027-28 season. The Manhattan native was one of the team’s three protections in Phase 1 of the league’s Expansion Player Distribution Process.

A standout first season

Selected third overall in the 2025 PWHL Draft, O’Brien led all first-year players with 22 points, scoring seven goals and adding 15 assists in 28 games. She also ranked fifth among rookies in average time on ice.

The 25-year-old was a finalist for the 2026 PWHL Rookie of the Year award and earned a spot on the PWHL All-Rookie Team. Before turning professional, she won the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, was a three-time NCAA National Champion and graduated as the highest-scoring player in University of Wisconsin Badgers history.

In her words

I am so excited to be a Siren for the next two years,

O'Brien, forward

O’Brien also expressed her desire to win in New York and help build a championship caliber team and culture, while looking forward to returning to The Rock (Prudential Center).

What it means for the roster

O’Brien becomes the Sirens’ 19th player under contract and their 10th forward. She is one of 10 players on the roster signed beyond next season.
