PWHL fans will help choose the starters for the league’s first independently hosted All-Star event, bringing four teams together for a 3-on-3 tournament at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, March 7. PWHL All-Star presented by Scotiabank will pit national and international stars against a team of first-season players.

How the tournament works

PWHL Canada, PWHL International, PWHL USA and PWHL Rookies will compete in a round robin. The second- and third-ranked teams will then meet in a semifinal, with the winner advancing to face the first-ranked team in the PWHL All-Star Final.

Each team will have 10 players: six forwards, three defenders and one goaltender. Players in their first PWHL season, regardless of age, will first be eligible for the Rookies team.

Starters will be chosen through a combination of fan, player and media voting. League hockey operations will select the reserves.

A new stage for the league’s stars

“The PWHL was built to feature the best players in the world, and now fans will see the highest level of skill in women’s hockey showcased in a new and unique way,”

Jayna Hefford, PWHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations

The event brings the league back to the city where its first game was played. Toronto hosted New York at Mattamy Athletic Centre on Jan. 1, 2024. One month later, PWHL players competed in the Canadian Tire PWHL 3-on-3 Showcase at Scotiabank Arena during 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend.

What fans need to know

A ticket on-sale date has yet to be announced. Fans can sign up for ticketing information, including access to an exclusive presale opportunity.

Fan and community activations will also take place in Toronto. Full programming, voting details, roster construction, ticketing information and gameplay rules will be announced ahead of the event.

An official countdown clock unveiled at the Hockey Hall of Fame will travel to different Toronto locations. Beginning Sept. 25, fans can see it at Union Station’s Front Street Promenade, one level down from the Great Hall, with further locations to be announced.
